Welcome to Longfellow Berkeley LEARNS @ Berkeley Adult School (Temporarily)

LEARNS PROGRAM INFORMATION:

  • For academic support, enrichment, and sports participation, students must be enrolled in LEARNS. Once students are enrolled, they are welcome to sign in, commit,  and participate in any activity under the LEARNS program.  Our Bridging Berkeley Math Tutors can provide additional academic support in our after-school program.

PROGRAM FEE

  • Monthly fees are due on the 1st of every month. Payment options are: online, in-person, or autopay. Financial assistance is available. No cash will be accepted. Please submit copies of income verification by email. (BUSD free/reduced lunch verification letter, a letter stating you never attended the program, W-2, last year's income tax return, 2 pay stubs, state assistant letters/cards). Copies (only) can be submitted in person and dropped off at the main office. Attention: copies to LEARNS. Our goal is to provide quality programming for all students regardless of their family's economic status. No one will be turned away.

PROGRAM FEE FOR SPORTS​

  • If you are only interested in athletics, the fee is a flat $168 per month (most sports last 2 months for a total of $336)

SIGN-IN/OUT & ABSENCES

  • If your child is no longer attending LEARNS or participating in sports, please email lashondaroquemore@berkeley.net or call (510) 883-5258

  • FOR SAFETY and LIABILITY, students are not permitted to leave campus and return to LEARNS.  Consequences are administrative detentions and suspension from the LEARNS program.

  • If your child is signing out before 4:30 p.m., PARENTS must SIGN and COMPLETE a Walk Home Waiver and Early Release Form for that day/year.  Students who are signed up for LEARNS are expected to sign in/out daily at the beginning and when they leave the program. ​

 

LEARNS NO CELL PHONE/SCHOOL POLICY

  • Our school principal's expectations for the school day, including cell phones, are very consistent with our after-school program expectations. No cell phones are allowed. Students may get permission from staff to use their cell phones ONLY to communicate with their parents.  Cell phones will be confiscated and stored until parents arrive for pick up at the end of the program. Food deliveries and snacks from the local stores are not allowed.  

 

REMINDERS

  • Pick up is on Francisco Street. All students MUST be picked up by  6:00 p.m. Students are NOT allowed to wait alone in front of the school. Parents should make arrangements to have their child picked up promptly by the end of the program. A late fee of $1 a minute after 6 p.m., DUE at the time of pick up. We encourage you to pick your child up on time! In the case of an emergency, call the office at (510) 406-5468.

WAYS TO SUPPORT

  • Volunteer, teach an enrichment class; donations, board games, video games, sports equipment, fabric, sewing supplies, pens, markers, paper, pencils, crayons, art supplies, microwave, water, snacks, first aid, storage containers, etc.
