BUSD’s New Home for Family & School Communication

Berkeley Unified School District is excited to announce our transition to ParentSquare, our new district-wide communication platform!

Whether you need real-time updates from your school principal, classroom news from your child’s teacher, or quick reminders about upcoming district events, ParentSquare brings all BUSD communications together into one central, easy-to-use hub.

Familiar Features: Building on What You Know

If your family previously used Remind, ParentSquare will feel very familiar! ParentSquare is the unified successor to tools like Remind, designed to streamline how home and school connect.

You’ll still enjoy the core features you relied on with Remind—like direct two-way messaging with teachers and quick text or email updates—alongside powerful new features designed to keep you informed without cluttering your inbox.

All-in-One Dashboard: Access school news, classroom announcements, event calendars, and permission slips in one location.
Two-Way Communication: Easily message teachers, staff, or group advisors directly.
Automatic Two-Way Translation: Receive notifications and send messages in your preferred home language automatically.
Flexible Notification Controls: Choose how and when you receive updates—via app notification, email, or SMS text.

How to Get Started & Make the Most of ParentSquare

To ensure you stay fully connected this school year, here is a quick guide to getting set up:

1. CLAIM YOUR ACCOUNT

ParentSquare accounts are automatically created using the contact information (email address and mobile phone number) on file in your BUSD Student Information System profile.

Visit parentsquare.com or download the app to log in using the email or phone number registered with the district.

2. DOWNLOAD THE MOBILE APP

For the best experience, download the free ParentSquare app (available on iOS and Android). The app makes it simple to receive push notifications, sign forms, and message teachers on the go.

3. CUSTOMIZE YOUR NOTIFICATION PREFERENCES

Do you prefer updates instantly, or would you rather receive a single summary at the end of the day?

Go to your account settings in ParentSquare and select Instant or Daily Digest for email, text, and app notifications. (Note: Urgent emergency alerts will always bypass digest settings to reach you immediately.)

4. SET YOUR LANGUAGE PREFERENCE

Ensure all communications arrive in your preferred language. ParentSquare automatically translates incoming posts and translates your responses back to school staff.
